Sign up with the City of LA Planning Department to receive their updates at https://lp.constantcontactpages.com/su/p5UUOFK , but keep in mind that communications you receive from the Planning Department are likely to be pro Wildlife Ordinance marketing materials, and in the past have contained incorrect or deceptive statements (whether intentional or not).
-
SPREAD THE WORD!
- Tell your Neighbors about the Wildlife Ordinance.
-
Tell your friends and acquaintances who live in the proposed Wildlife Ordinance District which is
- Bel Air,
- BHPO,
- Hollywood Hills (from west of the 101),
- Sherman Oaks (hills only, from Valley Vista north)
- Studio City (hills only, from Laurel Terrace, Sunshine Terrace, Vineland north).
- Tell your friends and acquaintances who live in other City of LA Hillside Neighborhoods that their homes are next!
- Encourage all these people to visit LAHills.org and sign up, and take the actions below
-
OBJECT TO THE PROPOSED WILDLIFE ORDINANCE
Emails and letters to the Planning Department, Neighborhood Councils and LA City Council are counted and logged. Send objections to all three, and get your local Homeowner’s or Neighborhood Association involved. (Unfortunately a number of Homeowners/Neighborhood Associations are actively supporting the 2022WO without consulting their residents. See #4, below about what to do)

Your Neighborhood Council
Neighborhood Councils perform an advisory function to the City Council. Ordinances that are opposed by their Neighborhood Councils are less likely to be passed by the City Council. Ordinances that are supported by their neighborhood Councils are more likely to be passed into law. The Neighborhood Councils for the first proposed Wildlife Districts are:
Sherman Oaks Neighborhood Council – www.shermanoaksnc.org
Studio City Neighborhood Council – www.studiocitync.org
Hollywood Hills West Neighborhood Council – www.hhwnc.org
Bel Air Beverly Crest Neighborhood Council – www.babcnc.org -
Your Homeowner’s or Neighborhood Association
Ask your Homeowner’s or Neighborhood association to write to the Planning Department, your Councilmember, and your Neighborhood Council, opposing the Wildlife Ordinance. If they won’t do so, perhaps a change in their Board of Directors is in order – you and your neighbors can make that happen.

SHOW UP!

Bel Air Beverly Crest Neighborhood Council (“BABCNC”)
The BABCNC Ad Hoc Subcommittee on the Wildlife Ordinance is holding a series of Zoom meeting as follows:
You can get more information on the Subcommittee’s webpage at https://www.babcnc.org/proposed-wildlife-district.php . Zoom links are in the Agendas, which are at the bottom of the page. There are also surveys for you to provide written comments.
To date, the majority of this Subcommittee supports the Wildlife Ordinance so please try to attend and voice your opposition – but please be civil when you do! The job of the Neighborhood Council is to represent the residents (including non-members), not their personal views. If they won’t listen, replace them with someone who will. (Unlike other Neighborhood Councils. BABCNC Board members are appointed by their area Homeowners and Neighborhood association) -
Planning Department Events
In the relatively near future the Planning Department will be holding a series of “outreach” meetings on the Wildlife Ordinance, probably over Zoom, where you will have an opportunity to comment. If you have signed up with us, we will tell you when these are, and how to participate, when the Planning Department announces them.
Please try to attend – the Planning Department will likely only provide the hypothetical, unproven “pros” of the Wildlife Ordinance, your voice will be needed to provide the fact-based cons. Those in favor of the Wildlife Ordinance will be there (because Planning does a lot of outreach to Wildlife Ordinance supporters, and little to none to homeowners), so it’s important for the Planning Department to see and hear the opposition! -
City of LA Planning Commission and City Council Hearings and Votes
If you have signed up with us, we will tell you when these are announced.
