The City plans to roll out the Wildlife Ordinance to ALL hillside neighborhoods in the City, therefore all homes in the hills of the City of LA will eventually be affected if the Wildlife Ordinance passes.
To find out if you would be affected by this first round, and how badly, you need to check THREE maps provided by the City – the Draft Wildlife Ordinance District Boundary Map, the Interactive Resource Buffer Map, and the Interactive Ridgeline Buffer Map.
For the two interactive maps, put in your address in the box in the upper left hand corner, and if your property has a dark outline around it you will be subject to even more severe restrictions.
CAUTION: the City’s two Interactive Maps (Wildlife Resource and Ridgeline) are very buggy! When searching your address in the interactive maps,
- Make sure the map returns the correct property
- ZOOM OUT – often the dark line indicating an affected property is not visible until you zoom out.
- If the map is not working, try again at a later time.
Map 1 – Draft Wildlife Ordinance District Boundary Map
If your property is within the boundary, it will be subject to numerous regulations that will negatively impact your privacy, property rights, and property values.
Map 2 – Wildlife Resource Buffer Map
If your property has a darker outline, or a green or blue “buffer” touches anywhere on your property, your property will be subject to severe additional restrictions. Don’t forget to zoom out to see the dark outline.

Map 3 – Ridgeline Buffer Map
If your property has a darker outline, or a brown “buffer” touches anywhere on your property, your property will be subject to severe additional setback and height restrictions. Don’t forget to zoom out to see the dark outline.
